Dot Internet Solutions Inc. is a consulting firm that offers a full range of Internet -related services. We can assist in every stage of the Web site life cycle from planning and designing Web sites to training and maintenance. By educating our clients, we ensure they will make informed decisions about what they need to accomplish their goals and what time frame is required to do so. We work closely with our clients to ensure that their Web site projects the intended image to their target audience. For clients who prefer not to maintain their own Web servers, we provide a Web Presence on our own servers at competitive rates. Our experience with programming and system administration allows us to develop whatever Internet applications our clients may require.

Web Development / Programming Experience

Our expertise is derived from both skill and experience. Our familiarity with the Internet medium enables us to understand what makes Web sites successful, and avoid the pitfalls that lead to a poor design. As software professionals, we have over thirty years of combined experience with a wide variety of computer systems and are prepared to deal with the most difficult of problems. We continually upgrade our skills so that our clients can benefit from current technologies. This allows Dot to provide practical and professional Internet solutions for our clients.

Networking Experience

Dot promotes the use of either Windows or Linux as economical commercial platforms for a robust Web server or Internet gateway. The choice is based mostly on which platform integrates well with the client's IT infrastructure or which platform supports the client's technology preference for developing Web applications. Dot has many years of experience with setting up Web servers under different UNIX platforms (including Linux) and on PCs. Dot's own network is currently based on a mixed Linux / Windows network to better serve our customers by taking advantage of the strengths that each of the platforms offer. We also have experience performing onsite installations of both PC hardware and software, including installation and configuration of firewalls, networks and Internet access.

Operational Environment

Dot's server network is currently hosted in a secure data centre that is situated close to the city's central communications hub. Access to the data centre is controlled via fingerprint scanners for optimum security. The facility has a backup generator to deal with power shortages and redundant Internet connections to the central hub to ensure minimal downtime. We also have a secondary DNS and mail server offsite to ensure that domain name and e-mail services are rarely interrupted unless a major communications failure occurs that affects both facilities. Our technicians have access to the facility 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in case a problem occurs and requires immediate attention. Our servers are constantly monitored from behind and outside the firewall to detect any interruptions of service on any of our servers and alert us immediately of the problem.
